💫 My Story: Becoming Through the Hard Things

In the past five years, I’ve learned that growth rarely looks like what we expect.

In 2020, while the world was learning how to survive a pandemic, I got married and became a caretaker. Within that same week, my mother was diagnosed with glioblastoma. A year later, my husband was diagnosed with small cell cancer. Fourteen months after that, he passed away. Ten months later, my mother joined him.

In between those moments, I kept baking, building, and believing. Terri’s Cakes Detroit became more than a bakery — it became my heartbeat.

Being part of Detroit Elevate is a full-circle moment. It’s a reminder that resilience and purpose can rise from the hardest seasons — and that when Detroit shows up for its people, we rise together.
